2007 Silver Panda
Hi - just wanted to let anyone who's intersted know that the 2007 BU Silver Pandas are being released earlier this year, and are available from some sellers (i.e. PandaUSA) for pre-order scheduled for delivery about 1st week December. I've no image available yet as for the design , but am excited. As everyone knows , they're pricy compared to other bullion , but there are compelling reasons to look into these coins. I have compiled a pretty good case for the Panda ,which I intend to throw uphere soon.

Re: 2007 Silver Panda
i'd like to hear the case to support paying a super premium for a chinese coin versus the maple leaf.

Re: 2007 Silver Panda
Hiya there jayson. I don't have all my notes together to put forth the case. Haven't had the time. The coins imo are a lot prettier, how's that? LOL.
Look , if silver goes where I thinkit may , it won't matter all that much whether ya paid 14.50 or 17.95 for bullion. I guess you could have owned that much more, sure. I read an article recently though , and am unable to find it on the internet yet, stating that the Chinese Numismatic Society is already larger in terms of membership , than the ANA. Chines people are intersted in coins. They simply do not have the wherewithall to purchase Silver , or Gold---yet , and so focus mainly on the ancient cast coins. My guess is that this is going to change over the coming generation , you? Chinese people are fiercely proud. Zhongguo does not translate to middle Kingdom for no reason. Will they buy eagles and maples, or Pandas? It's the numi-thread , so think beyond bullion for a moment. Some of these coins have mintages as low as 8,000. Yes 8 thousand. Not 8 hundred thousand. Chinese people have a weird sense of pride concerning the Panda Bear itself -I've a lot more on this when I post my case. They're truly beautiful coins with an annually changing reverse. China olympicsare coming up in 2008 ,as is ,coincidentally the 25th anniversary of the Panda series (see what some '83's go for now, and add the hype and the money.) Maybe it'sjust a matter of addingn the demographis in as an insurance policy against the possibility that Silver does not go to $40. Anyway, if you're rwally just a bullion guy , there'snothing for you here. |
Re: 2007 Silver Panda
i do have a few gold panda coins and do think they are nice.
i just wanted to hear what you had to say. thanks |
Re: 2007 Silver Panda
j, my love of thes coins and their potential (over a generational time frame) knows no bounds !!
I think they are a perfect way of hedging Ag vs numismatics and vice versa. The caveat , as I'm sure you know , is the fakes. Should you be able to avoid fraud , it is my honest opinion that they offer the best of both worlds. Should anyone care to message me , I can offer a primer in the coins themselves , as well as how to spot the counterfeits ( mostly courtesy of a reliable dealer). These things I learn from my own pains and experiences. I see here a thread mentioning Pandas for spot and two, and if true, I would like to ask the name of the dealer and whether they can deal in any size. It would be worth a communication , if not even a flight , to me. I am hoping I can find the time to document the case for my beliefes and post it to this forum before the Christmas Hoilday. |
Re: 2007 Silver Panda
If the Chinese people are so proud of the pandas it is a shame they don't bother to police the huge amount of fakes that have flooded the market.
I think the pandas are the most beautiful coin out there. I have sold mine and are not buying any more. So ... OK. I buy pandas from someone like Jennifer at lonestar silver, and I know I get a genuine product. Now, assuming I come to sell. Can MY buyer guarantee he will get a genuine product? Or will he go to a dealer? I think it is reasonable to assume that our buyers will know less about coins and bullion than we do. I may be totally wrong about this, but recently I sold some coins on ebay. And it actually got more for the NWT mint bars and sunshine silver rounds than I did for the pandas ... mmn .... |
